Selling a Home

Selling a Home

My grandparents had been trying to sell their old house for about five years now.

The property itself is just too big for two 80 year olds to take care of on their own. I was very distraught when I found out they were selling. I mean that was the house I grew up in along with the rest of their grandchildren. Unfortunately, now I just want it to be over and done with but they seem to be constantly having issues finding the right buyer. At first, they thought it was the relator who they had listed to help sell the home. He seemed shady and didn’t really try to give them pointers about how to change the home to make it so potential buyers could imagine themselves in the house. He lasted about three years before my grandparents let him go. The next relator, however, was extremely helpful. She not only helped them rearrange furniture and get rid of excess clutter but she also gave them tips on how changing the temperature of the house may help sellers feel more at home. Due to my grandparents being older in age they tended to get cold very easily, so the house was always warm or a little toasty depending on the time of day. She insisted that every morning before a showing of the home my grandparents layer up before turning the HVAC system to 75 degrees. After a few years of trying the new system, they were finally getting offers on the home. They assured us that it must be the new relator and her hospitality but I’m beginning to think it has to do with the A/C and how it finally feels cool inside their house.
