Sometimes people absolutely baffle me. I don’t know if they are really this terrible at communicating or if they just like to be deceitful by omitting information. However, it seems like everyone in my life likes to throw me a curveball here and there when I’m surprised by something that they never told me. This is exactly what happened most recently when my best friend called me up one day and inquired if I would like to take a long road trip with her. She told me that she needed to get across the country in a few days and she was looking for some company on the ride. I was more than happy to commit to the trip because I enjoy spending time seeing new sights. However, within about 10 minutes of driving I realized that I was in for a much hotter and more difficult drive than I had anticipated. This was apparent as soon as we hit the highway and I tried to roll my window up. My friend stopped me and told me that there would be no ventilation if I closed the window next to my face. That’s when she revealed an unfortunate fact. The air conditioning was broken in her vehicle. She knew that there was no cooling system on board, but never mentioned the lack of the air conditioning to me. Now, I was stuck in her vehicle as we traveled through the sweltering hot and humid summer weather. Without any air conditioning, it turns out that I do not appreciate road trips as much as I thought.
