How do I clean/recharge my Electrostatic Air Filter?
Use a garden hose with good water pressure. The filter should have an arrow indicating airflow direction. First spray off the filter from the opposite side of the arrow. Then from the other side. You can repeat this process several times if needed. If the filter is very dirty, spray it with a detergent first and let soak for a few minutes. Then thoroughly spray off with water.
How do I clean my Electronic Air Cleaner?
First turn off the power to the Electronic Air Cleaner and make sure the power is off. Wait 30 seconds, then remove the access door. Pull out the cells and pre-filters. Then replace the access door while cleaning. If the cells and pre-filters are dirty, they are now ready to be cleaned.
How often should I have my equipment serviced?
Heating and Air Conditioning equipment should be serviced at least once a year. The best scenario is to have the heating system checked in the Fall and the air conditioning checked in the Spring. Oil-fired equipment should definitely be cleaned and serviced annually.
What Size Heating and Air Conditioning System Do I Need?
A system that is too large will cool or heat your house quickly, but you may not feel comfortable. That's because it will satisfy the thermostat before it can adequately remove sufficient moisture from the air during the cooling mode, leaving you feeling sticky and humid. This could even lead to moisture and mold problems. And, the stress of short-cycling (too many starts and stops) will shorten the life of your equipment and increase your heating and cooling bills.
On the other hand, a system that is too small just cannot get the job done, especially in extreme weather conditions. The air conditioner will run constantly in the summer and the furnace will do the same in winter.
But a correctly sized system isn't just based on the size of the structure. Many factors go into determining the size of the system. Including type of house and walls, type and size of windows, insulation, basement and attic conditions, house orientation, and so on. A Salesman must visit the house and take detailed measurements and notes while conducting the survey.
Why is the SEER rating on the Energy Guide different than what my dealer quoted?
Each split system cooling unit has a nominal SEER rating. This rating can be increased with the upgrade of the indoor unit. The SEER rating of a system is derived based on the combination of equipment installed in the home. The outdoor equipment (heat pump or air conditioner), as well as the indoor equipment (evaporator coil and furnace, or air handler), play a vital role in the rating. Please see your dealer for the information.
Why can't I find the correct size furnace filter at my local home improvement store?
The filter shipper with your unit is made from higher quality materials than those of the disposable filters found in retail stores. For that reason, replacement filters can only be purchased through a dealer. However, keep in mind that filters are reusable, and can be washed by hand in cold water.
What does my warranty cover?
Under the standard factory warranty, the manufacturer covers parts that fail during the warranty period due to defect in the part. The warranty does not cover labor. A warranty certificate was included in your homeowner information packet, and is specific to the model numbers, serial numbers and installation dates of your products. If you cannot find your warranty certificate, your dealer will also be able to provide you with the information.
