Hibernation season; breaking out the space heaters

There is something sentimental and dreaming about this time of year, then as we’re slipping from Summer into fall and suddenly into winter, there are many changes taking venue in my psyche.

Throughout the summer, my brain is focused on having fun in the sunshine and keeping everything light-hearted.

It’s a time to meet up with friends, grab ice chilly drinks on the patio, and spend mornings basking in the sunshine. As chilly weather begins to emerge in our region, my brain instantly shifts towards the indoor work I can accomplish all season long, then because the outdoor air temperature is going to be low and uncomfortable, I beginning dreaming about improving my indoor environment and the activities I can find to entertain myself while in the many long, cold, dark hours. Often, I take up a modern activity such as painting or doing crafts to bridge the long and boring season. Additionally, I beginning feeling of the instinctual desire to begin hibernating. I want to nest in my home, and to create a appealingly hot and comfortable environment. This is about the time that I started venturing around to local thrift stores and collecting space heaters. Every year, I travel around the county and try to build up my arsenal of alternative heating options. I have learned from experience that my central boiler is incapable of keeping up my dwelling as warm, toasty, and cozy as I want. When the chilly air starts blowing through, I crave intensively hot and snuggly environments. Call it nature or nurture, but every chilly season, my instinct is to beginning hunting and celebration for additional space heaters.
